# How to Cancel and Delete Test Orders in Shopify (Hello-Pine Plugin)

## This article explains how to properly cancel and delete test orders created in Shopify via Hello-Pine. It ensures your financial reports stay clean and no unnecessary transactions or fees are triggered.

### English:

### 1. Cancellation vs. Deletion in Shopify

- **Canceling** an order stops further processing — used for fraud checks or customer cancellations.
- **Archiving** moves completed orders from the open list for organization.
- **Deleting** removes the order entirely from your admin and reports — as if it never existed.

### 2. Recommended for Test Orders

- For test orders created via Hello-Pine or a test payment method:

    1. **Cancel** the order first.
    2. Then **delete** the order to clean your records.
- This prevents test revenue or fees from being recorded.

### 3. Step-by-Step: Cancel a Test Order

1. Go to **Orders** in your Shopify admin and open the test order.
2. Click **More actions \> Cancel order**.
3. Choose a **refund option**:

     - **Full refund now**: Triggers a real refund (not recommended for test orders).
     - **Refund later**: No payment is processed — ideal for test cases.
4. If inventory was reserved, enable **“Restock items”**.
5. Disable customer notifications.
6. Confirm cancellation.

**Important**: If a real payment method was used (e.g., PayPal), transaction fees may still apply. These are not refunded and may result in a **negative payout balance**.

### 4. Step-by-Step: Delete a Canceled Order

1. Open the **canceled order**.
2. Scroll to the bottom or click **More actions \> Delete order**.
3. Confirm deletion.

Only specific order types can be deleted:

- Test orders via **Bogus Gateway** or **Test Mode**.
- Orders using **manual payments**.
- API-imported orders (like those from Hello-Pine).

Regular paid orders or gift card orders cannot be deleted — only archived.

### 5. Avoiding Financial Side Effects

- Use **Test Mode** whenever possible to avoid transaction fees.
- If a real payment occurred, refund immediately to avoid posting revenue.
- Never refund to a non-existent customer to avoid **duplicate payouts**.

### 6. Tip for Future Tests

Use Shopify’s **Bogus Gateway** or **Payments Test Mode** for safe testing. These do not appear in real reports or trigger payouts. Once testing is done, switch back to **Live Mode**.

### German:

### 1. Stornieren vs. Löschen in Shopify

4. Lagerbestand ggf. über **„Artikel wieder auf Lager nehmen“** zurückbuchen.
5. Kundenbenachrichtigungen deaktivieren.
6. Stornierung bestätigen.

**Hinweis**: Bei echten Zahlungsarten (z.

3. Löschung bestätigen.

Löschbare Bestellarten:

- Testbestellungen (Bogus Gateway / Testmodus).
- Manuelle Zahlungen.
