How do Etsy's product fields work?

Within this article you will learn what is different about the product fields within Etsy. Specifically, you will learn how to set product fields as options and what the field "Size Scale" is.

In comparison to other market places like Avocadostore and Otto, Etsy has some specifics, that you need to be aware of when setting your product fields.  The main points are:

The Product Field  "Size" & "Size Scale":

While you can just type in the sizes you offer within other market places, within Etsy the field "size" is directly linked to the field "size scale". Thus, when setting up your product fields for a product that you want to provide information regarding size on, you need to look at the field "size scale" first.

The Field "size scale" enables you to select a unit of measurement (see options in the screenshot). Once you have done that,  you can specify the options you offer within the "Size" field down below.

Important!: If you want to offer different sizes, or different variations of the product in any form (e.g. different colors of one product type) and thus you want to offer variants in your shop, you need to manually transform the specific product field into a option field.

Keep reading if you want to learn how to do that!

How To Set Product Field As Options:

Let's take an example. You have a sweatshirt, but you offer four different sizes of that sweatshirt in your shop. Thus, you need four different size variants of that product. To do that, you go to the Etsy channel and to "Setup Categories" (see screenshot). Now you click on to the category, that you have the mentioned product in.

Now go to "Product Fields" and click on "Size" -> "Edit Field".Next, you need to click on "Set Option".

Great! The field "Size" is now an option-field and thus, you can offer your different size variants!

Now you can go to the product level and set the different size options you offer!

Well done!
